Genre Research: Thriller and Horror
Both the thriller and horror genres helped us create more ideas for our film. Additionally learning about about all these genres helped us determine which one our idea fell under. It also showed us the important things needed to be included in our film. Especially the things to make it successful. Without properly learning these things it would've been extremely hard to complete all the steps needed for an amazing production. Throughout the entire process of learning we each ended up creating better ideas and adding them into our script. It also helped give us better insight into the genres and how we could better incorporate them. Studying the different genres made things easier for us and our other blogs.
The horror genre helped us learn more about the art of suspense and jump scares. By watching different movies and seeing the types of cams and editing used we were able to get a better understanding of a lot of things. It showed us how the art of slow camera movements and things such as low angles, high angles, and tracking can be used to help give off dramatic effects. It also helps contribute to jump scares, which we hope to find very useful in the future.
The thriller genre also assisted us a lot with our planning process. Especially when our film is a thriller. Learning more about the genre we decided to choose obviously helped us tremendously. Every little detail went into the outline of our film to improve it. Learning about the common cams, sound, and effects helped us better plan and also determine what genre we were into. Learning also showed us an outline of how our outfits should look, and even how our personalities and body language should be. All of these put together can help us so much, and give us the knowledge we need to pass the exam. Horror and Thriller helped us the most though, directly tying into our ideas and plans.
