filming blog for music video

Image
For our filming blog we woke up really early to meet at Mickel park on Friday the 27th. By early I mean around 6:30 so we could get there by 8am. This early arrangement was mostly because we had to film around one of our teammates work schedules. When we got to the park though they weren't open yet, probably because of Black Friday. We waited an hour before eventually coming to the conclusion that the park wasn't going to open anytime soon. With that in mind we quickly decided to find a park close by that would be open even with the crazy Black Friday schedules. We knew we wanted one with a playground and besides that we weren't picky, so finding on was easy. Mills park was only 4 minutes away and ended up becoming our new set for the video. Since it was on the bigger side we had more flim space, but ended up thinking that the play ground was the funniest place to be. We knew playing on the slides and swings would give us some funnier clips for our video.  The weather was ...

Storyboard for Music Video

Image
The first scene there is an a group chat on iMessage of friends discussing how great their day is going to be. In this scene the names of the actors are introduced. In the next scene there are 2 of the friends waiting one a bench for the last 2 friends to join. This will be a wide shot and establishing shot since it introduces all the friends together and a new setting. Finally the rest of the friends join. They enjoy each others company and converse for a few minutes. They then decide to go on the playground in scene 4. As two of them playing on the swings and slides the other two play with the frisbee. In scene 6 two of the friends decided to go back to the bench to play board games. TikTok is a popular app where you can make funny videos with your friends. They wanted to make some TikTok videos so that created some in scene 7.  Sometimes a rest break is needed so that why one friend was under the tree resting while the rest have fun.  Scene 9 is where things take a shift. I...

Research for music video

Image
Research Blog Clip from 'Walking On Sunshine' music video Our music video won't follow the convection of the Pop Rock genre. After analyzing the "Walking On Sunshine" music video, me and my group have decided to stir away from pop rock convections and create our own unique music video. When first discussing the filming process, a majority of our group agreed on wearing colorful wigs. Not for any significant reasoning but simply doing it out of fun. Though, the colorful wigs will aid the overall tone of the video. Going back to convections of the Pop Rock genre, in our research we've found the common characteristic of Pop Rock music videos. Typically will contain multiple scenes of the artist doing random activities or following a story. As well as scenes altering the focus of the video of those artist following their story to them preforming the song on stage. The attire in most Pop Rock music videos are trendy, yet moderate toned clothing. A perfect mixtur...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Title- The title of the song we are doing is "Walking on Sunshine". The genre this song is classified under is pop rock.   Props- In our commercial we will utilize a cell phone for our main prop. In our music video we want to maintain some of the conventions. We might also use things such as Frisbees, slides and swings at the park in our video also. Costume- To mimic the style of the music video we will be dressed in very casual clothing. We will also be wearing colorful wigs. We hope that the wigs will give our commercial a unique new style and hopefully get the viewers to smile. The costumes can also add a happy effect that our story might not get across.  Schedule We hope to knock out our filming in one day, preferably on a nice sunny day. If we cannot and we end up taking up more than a day, we can fix up a schedule that makes sure our filming days will be on weekends and in the afternoon. This is meant to be convenient towards all of us due to having school in...

Intro For Music Video

Image
I decided to work in a group of 4 people. My partners are Jada-Marie Reid, Eric Bonilla, and  Andrew James . I first chose Eric as my partner because we worked together for the first project and our personalities really clicked.  The last project we completed together we produced great work and I wanted to continue that amazing work ethic for all my bigger projects. Jada and Andrew previously worked together and created quality work also, and we thought it would be a good move to merge our groups together since I already knew they had amazing work ethic. Overall, we decided to combine with them because we figured it would be easier for the filming. If it were just us two the video wouldn't be as fun and characteristcs.  With more people we can interact in the music video more and give it the effect we want. The hardest part of this process so far was choosing a song, there were so many that we liked and thought about doin...

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My commercial challenged conventions by exaggerating them throughout the video. Things such as theme, characters, plotlines, and mood are all used to help make a fun and family friendly atmosphere commercial. For example, including clips of my dog at the different points of the day gave the commercial a more home vlog vibe, which is what a lot of families like to do. My video helps to talk mostly animal lovers and families. It also addresses issues about finding the perfect dog collar, one that won't irritate her or other animals.   2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My product engages with the audience by talking directly to them throughout the entire video. This is shown by me putting words on the screen each time a new clip started. And using words such as “your” so the person knows I'm talking directl...

Dog Collar Commercial

I feel like one thing I could've changed about my commercial is the time spent on it. I think in total I spent 4 or 5 days, but I didn't come out with the commercial I expected. I didn't prioritized it and put enough effort in. I could've taken more shots outside and factored the bipolar weather into my shooting schedule, but I just got off tasks with my other assignments.  I should've stuck with my schedule instead of holding it off until the weekend off. This is probably what put me in such a tight schedule in the first place. I also should've done more research on camera angles and how to better show these angles with my phone. It was harder to keep the phone straight and properly show the correct angles while filming a dog. Especially because the dog was constantly moving around. For future projects I might have to invest in a tripod to make filming easier. I also should've taken into account my dogs personality. Next time I film a commercial I will ...

Editing my Dog Collar commercial

Image
Editing my blog was really difficult for me, and probably the hardest part of my whole commercial. To edit my whole film I used the editing app iMovie.  For my background music I screen recorded my sound from YouTube and clipped different parts together to make it 30 seconds long. The song I chose was an upbeat one that slightly dramatized my whole commercial. After that I struggled uploading my audio to my actual commercial. I didn't know how to add own sound to my editing app. Mostly because I just didn't see that option, just the one that allowed audio from my Apple Music. This probably took 20 minutes to figure out, and it definitely would've been longer if I didn't use google. That was probably the hardest part of the whole editing process.  Next I had to start putting my clips together in a fun way. It was the longest process and 100 percent the most stressing. I had to keep changing and rearrange the clips to my liking, and that also took awhile. Then I had to ed...

Fliming my dog collar commercial

Image
During my filming process I had to overcome plenty of obstacles. Fliming a commercial about a dog collar would be pointless without an actual dog being in it, so I used my dog Penny. Penny can be pretty bipolar sometimes. At certain moments she's extremely energetic and is constantly moving around, while at other times she's really lazy and rarely moves from the couch. So one of the biggest issues was getting her to do what I wanted, when I wanted it. When I said roll over, she laid down instead, and when I needed her to run she decided to walk.  It also didn't help that my actor ditched the filming at the last minute, which was probably the worst road block I encountered. So finding someone on short notice was probably the most hectic part of my whole filming process. Another thing I encountered the weather. It constantly changed and made fliming very difficult, especially since the set was mostly outside. My role in the film was to be the director. So things such as set l...
